If you've talked to me lately you will know that there is not much time in my schedule at the moment for anything besides my exams and the projects I'm finishing off. Which is allright, I guess, we're towards the end of the quarter and it's time to get back and try to show them teachers what you learned. It's all part of the deal, when you're in school. So, I suffer through it.
What is worse however is that I see my husband day after day crouch on our sofa, staring into the walls. He doesn't say it, but I know what he is thinking: "When the f*** will she be done with those exams, so that we can finally get out and go do stuff!" And we will, soon, just not quite yet ...
And when will be able to say we finished moving into our new house, with everything unpacked and in place and our place all neat and cozy. Finally, it's all about baby steps. Unpack a box here and there. Get a glass tabletop for the coffe table we got on sale. Go return the glass because they cut it assymmetrically. Stop at furniture stores on the way to work to check out dining sets. Check out Craig's listings. Go to garage sales to try to find a desk or a TV set and come home with a cruiser bike you got for 15 bucks ...
Baby steps ...

All good things come to an end
I'm having my last class of the quarter in a few minutes. Done with two, including the final for one of them. That final was by the way awful. What's with putting a cache problem with decimal numbers on the architecture final? Gosh, do they really think we have nothing better to do than to calculate multiples of 32 and solve modulo 64 divisions. May I ask for binary, please. Please!
I am going to offer myself a movie tonight before I start working on my last operating systems homework and before I prepare my meeting with my advisor tomorrow. In 8 days I'll pass the two other finals I have left.
Day after that we will fly to Colorado, where C is giving a systems biology talk. Will prolong for a week and visit some old acquaintances while we're there. Fort Collins and Boulder will be on our itinerary ...

Interestingly ...
... like my colleague and class mate would say, the project we so much stressed about got good reception. However, this put even more pressure on us, because different people manifested interest in it, we had to put together a presentation and we were asked to revise a number of things. Who knows, maybe this thing will even be publishable after we put a little more work into it.
Have a final in computer architecture too in two days.
This explains why I am still breaking my back working on this, a week almost after it was first due. So, no change in the status of our getting settled in the new place. Or, well, we did manage to make a trip to IKEA this weekend and also look into some furniture stores. Got our eyes set on a dinner table, at least to think about, and got ourselves some plates, and other random stuff for the house.
P & R are coming for visit on Friday, don't know what they are gonna think of all these boxes full of books stacked on our living room floor.

... eh, did I say soon ?
Then I haven't kept my word. Completely lost track of time. Can it be, that there is only one week left of classes! Two projects turned in today, now only three homeworks left and a presentation. First final in six days, last final in two weeks. Feels like the pressure is lifting ...
My hubby's gonna be glad. We've been coming home real late for the last couple of weeks. Usually too late to even think about making dinner. And when we come home I open my laptop and continue coding or doing data manipulations on my couch. This said, I really like my new couch. Eh, both of them actually ...!
Need I say that we still haven't been shopping for our new place, aside from the furniture deal we got the weekend we moved in. Haven't even made it to Ikea. To save time we ordered flatware and a set of pots online. Got them in the mail a few nights ago and they look mighty good actually.
What else? We desperately need lamps. Got no ceiling lights in the living room. We badly need a number of things still, but maybe not desperately. Oh, by the way, we don't even have a TV, had completely forgotten. We just have cable, but no screen!
This weekend, aside from working on my three homeworks and preparing for my architecture final, I mean to take a walk down to the bay. About 60 meters, that is ... And I mean to step out on my front porch, maybe even a glass of white in hand, and sit down on the steps of my porch while I sip it.
Or, maybe not. Nah, that's crazy talk ...!
